Local artists will apply their talent & creativity to the fiberglass rat sculptures to create an assortment of unique pieces of art. These rats will be placed outside local business establishments in Cleveland, and will be auctioned in the Fall 2008.
To make each rat a unique work of art, each artist is challenged and inspired by cultural influences, their personal history, and their own interpretation of the rat as an object of art.
In addition to the public art, the Year of the Rat Project will also include a variety of Asian & art education programs and events throughout the year. These will include the Year of the Rat Unveiling Festival, Art Education Classes for St. Clair Superior Neighborhood schools, and more!
